Yep that's right - you.

And when I say we, I mean me. Dan Hartley. This is my website and everything on here is the result of twelve years of hard slog. Now it might be reasonable to wonder why after a dozen years I still need money.

So here goes. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but.. the past ten years have seen my gainfully employed on the Harry Potter films. If you visit the section called 'Video Playback' you'll see what my job entails. I basically record the footage from the cameras and play them on to the monitor for the director to watch. It's a pretty cool job. I work all over, meet loads of people, but more importantly I've been paid to watch established and skilled directors ply their trade. So I've watched and I've learned and every year between films I've gone out and made my own films, with my own money. And that's what you see here - shorts films, feature scripts, Internet virals, a rogue diary. They're all project that I've conceived, funded, written, directed and edited.

Naturally it's taken me awhile to build my skills and confidence so the older films are generally one-man-band affairs where i've convinced a few friends to appear in front of camera and we've shot on the hoof with poor sound and no lights etc.

As i've progressed though I've increasing employed crews of the highest calibre and my confidence and skills has increased. Along the way I've won awards, toured festivals, gained national press coverage, all while holding down a job that regularly exceeds 60+ hours a week in a challenging pressured environment.

And so that's my point. I've already spent all the money learning how to do the job. Now I want you to invest in me as a trained professional, as someone who has imagination and conviction and who can deliver.
